Moab - Day 2
Okay, so I'm a slacker. I've got to finish the Moab trip. It was nice that every morning I could get up and run. I would run about 3-4 miles. It was fun. Today was the Delicate Arch hike. I was looking forward to it since last month when we came down with the Scouts it was super windy and Jake didn't quite make it to the arch. Everyone did great. We all had our hydration packs. What a beautiful site. We hiked around the arch for more than an hour. Jakey discovered "A view rarely seen". After our morning hike we had lunch at Devil's Garden. This is where the infamous "challenge" is. JJ is such a great climber. Well, one thing's for sure. If I wait to tell about something it turns out pretty short (and boring IMO).

Can you tell me the details about where you guys stay when you go to Moab. Oh, and the details, tricks and tips for Arches hikes etc. The general Moab thing. We're thinking about going the weekend before July 4th with our fam from CA.
TIA
Sorry for the delay. We just got back from warm and sunny. Several years ago we used to do the camping thing. We stayed here:

for a number of years and even took a few different friends. The boys loved it.
Then one year we stayed here:

We liked it but the bathrooms were all together and not a nice. It was our first time doing the cabin thing. Basically, we didn’t bring the tent. We slept in a cabin. We still brought our sleeping bags but slept on mattresses.
This year I looked at a number of places and decided on this place:

We had stayed at a KOA up at Bear Lake a few years ago and really liked it. We stayed in a two room cabin and we liked it. We REALLY liked the bathrooms as they were close, clean, and each bathroom had its own shower. If you go here
use the handicapped ones as they are even bigger. The problem with this one is that the pool wasn’t open yet (but many other places it was). It was also on the edge
of time (the Southern part).
Next time I think we’ll do this one:

There used to not be very many nice hotels to stay but that has changed due to things like the Jeep Safari week and other big events down there.
I could also recommend where to eat and not eat. I would recommend eating here:

Zax Pizza was also pretty decent. I would stay away from the Hogi Yogi/Teriyaki Stix place and Eddie McStiff’s.
As far as places to go things to see, we pretty much do the same thing. We do the drive either from Moab to Canyonlands (going up the Shafer trail) or the other way (going down).
There are plenty of places to stop, and hike, throw rocks, take pictures etc).
We usually spend a couple of days in Arches (doing the hikes that I mentioned in the blog).
This time we also drove down to Needles. That was lots of fun. I haven’t been there since I was a kid. If you haven’t been there for a while I would suggest stopping at Dead Horse Point either on the way down (or out like we usually do). There are spectacular views there.
Make sure you all have hydration packs if you are going to be doing much walking. We used to do the fanny pack thing in the old days but now that has changed. You can get good ones at Walmart, Costco, or Recreation Outlet in American Fork. They are really nice. You can spend quite a bit of money on them but we usually spend around $30 for each one.
I could go on and on or you can give me a jingle if you have more questions.
