I came to work on Monday with the sad news that Paul Winchell and John Fiedler died over the weekend. For many years Paul and John played the voices of "T-I-double grrrr-R." and Piglet respectively on the beloved A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh. What I didn't know is about the remarkable careers prompted me to create another blog post. For 60 years Paul was a master ventriloquist and as an inventor held 30 different patents (including an early artificial heart). How many patents does Michael Moore have? Tom Cruise? What about all of the rap singers? Paul contracted polio at age six but went on to study at Columbia University. Besides the artificial heart he had other patents for a disposable razor, a cigarette lighter and most importantly an invisible garter belt.
John, on the other hand, served in WWII before his many years of stage, film, and tv success.
Thanks, Paul and John. We will miss you.
